Slowly but surely
May 10, 2012Yes, social search is evolving and improving. Google’s ”Search Plus Your World” is the obvious frontrunner but Facebook is lurking around the corner. A former Google engineer is heading up an effort with some 20 people working on the next generation search at Facebook.
I have mentioned Wajam before. I like it. Not only does it index your friend’s feeds it digs deeper into linking as well. A LinkedIn integration is under way and can Wajam is in a good position to help you find friends with similar questions, or answers if you are lucky.
Having said that I have to admit I uninstalled Wajam because it presented the results at the top of my Google search and I got tired of it. Sometimes you actually want the Google resultsJ. Apparently the guys at Wajam reconsidered this and I’ll try it again, hoping for a less intrusive presentation of what my friends think of sailing, Google, severe colds….
Two other initiatives are Wisdio and Beepl. I like them both but the don’t produce any relevant results yet. They both claim to connect you with experts, but obviously you need the experts onboard. Hope they’ll grow quickly.
What’s next? Still waiting for the Twitter killer application for Q&A. I should probably get back to the team…
